What Are Writing Prompts?

Writing prompts are a great, fun way for any writer to get creatively inspired. Prompts are often short, subtle ideas designed to creatively move writers to make something they never before would have thought of.

"A blind girl is amazed to find that there is one person in the world she can see."

"Life was simple for Paul Gennis before he found out he was a clone of..."

Introducing, Worddly.

In association with Michigan Comics Collective, Worddly is a small writing prompt community with just one goal -- to inspire. Updated every month, a new writing prompt is presented to the community to be brought to life.

Submission Guidelines

Worddly is proudly powered by Blogger, And whether you're new to Blogger or have been a member for years, posting is easy. There are, however, a few requests we ask of our contributors. While these rules may seem difficult at first, they have been carefully created to ensure ease of use for the Worddly community.

Post Title
Under the 'Create New Post' page, you may title your blog post. Title it either under the name you've created for your story or with the writing prompt itself. Or you may leave it blank.
Post Body
After you have finished writing your story, simply copy and paste it into the post body of the 'Create New Post' page.
Using Labels
For clarity and ease of use, all stories must be properly cataloged with two labels. First under the respected writing prompt title, second under your full name. This allows for each prompt and writer to be found easily. You can find the 'Labels' feature under the 'Post Settings' bar found on the right side of the 'Create New Post' page.
Using Jump Break
To avoid unnecessary cluster and for ease of finding stories posted to Worddly, all posts must use the 'Jump Break' feature listed along with the other editing tools found under the 'Create New Post' page. What this achieves is to have only a portion of your story viewable from the main page and prompt visitors to 'click' to read more of your story. A good place to put the 'Jump Break' would be after the first paragraph of your story.
Unfinished Work
At Worddly, we believe that the journey is the reward. We understand that ideas don't come to you all at once and sometimes you may find yourself with more of a plot summary than a complete work. And that's great, too! Please, feel free to post what you've got. This will enhance your creative process, allowing the creative feedback necessary for developing your writing craft. It's the journey of the writing process that should be the reward, not just your finished work.
